EAW Consolidated PBY5A Catalina Patrol Bomber - a "Black Cat" with VP-54 stationed at Guadalcanal 1943-44

PBY's were active from the first day until the last day of the war. They were used for patrol, reconnaissance, air-sea rescue work, and as maritime interdiction attack bombers. The Black Cats were operated at night against Japanese barge and transport traffic beginning in 1943 and continued through 1945. The PBY began as a flying boat, but later was developed into an amphibian - the PBY5A - with the addition of wheels allowing it to operate from land and sea both. It could carry bombs, depth charges and torpedoes.

I developed this model from the PAW 1942 Catalina 3DZ wireframe, updating it to EAW standards with transparent canopies, pilots, wing struts, moving props, etc., and generally improving the shape. The skin is also my work.

it is intended for use with Charles Gunst's ECAPanel in the B26 slot. To use, place the 3DZ and .tpc files in your EAW folder and select the PBY option in the ECAPanel.

A blank PCX file is included in case you want to add your own markings, with my blessings.

Cheers,
